Evolution - NFL

The site evolution.NFL has a flash presentation showing the evolution of football from 1869 to the present day.

Football is a contact sport with a large number of injuries; so the program emphasizes the health and safety of the players.

For example, in the 1930s, the sport added face guards to protect the player's teeth and noses. A few neck injuries later, the officials added a big penalty for grabbing the face mask.

Brain injuries are currently the biggest plague of the sport creating a great deal of research into new rules and equipment to prevent the problem.

Who knows? We may soon see players wearing full exo-skeletons or reams of regulations so long that each player will need a personal lawyer to play in the game.

On an Unrelated Note ...

On an unrelated note ...

The crazy author of the site yintercept.com is soliciting participation in the creation of a new sport called Juggleball.

Juggleball is a social networking sport in which people complete a series of juggle relays with random players. Whoever is best at completing relays with different people wins the game.

It is a unique concept in sports. Most team sports are about beating competitors. In Juggleball, people compete in the ability to cooperate.

The crazy person who is organizing this effort is seeking people who want to organize teams and be part of something new.

If the presentation of the evolution of football makes you want to be part of the evolution of the sport. You can contact the crazy person.

The crazy person lives in Utah. Living in Utah appears to be what drove him crazy. The site says he is planning a trips to Arizona, Colorado and possibly San Diego. If I read betweent he lines correctly, he might actually be looking for co-owners. But don't quote me on that.
