http://CommunityColor.com/kewl.html?dt=2021-02-22
Parler Parler.com is a social media platform modeled on Twitter. The site foolishly built on the Amazon Web Services network. The sited billed itself as a "free speech" alternative to Twitter. It became a popular hangout for people who were banned from Twitter for expressing Conservative opinions. In a dramatic move, AWS, Google and Apple pulled a triple punch on the site in early 2021. Google and Apple pulled their app from their distribution network and AWS canceled their web hosting service. Parler.com came back to life in late February 2021. While I am not a fan of Trump. I dislike censorship; So, I decided to create an account with the yintercept handle. I will drop some posts to discuss my interpretation of classical liberalism.Mon, 22 Feb 2021 01:20:00 +0000http://CommunityColor.com/kewl.html?dt=2021-02-22Review: Podshare

SteemIt For the last several months I've been playing with a the SteemIt social media network. The network is a little bit like twitter but it includes a funding mechanism. You earn a cyber token called STEEM when people upvote your post. Conversely, of course, you reward others when you upvote their posts. The value of your upvote is determined by the amount of STEEM POWER that you have in your account. Unfortunately, the funding mechanism makes the site frustrating for new users. I like the site to the extent that I decided to write a Guide for new SteemIt Users.Wed, 22 Aug 2018 01:20:00 +0000http://CommunityColor.com/kewl.html?dt=2018-08-22Review: Building Equity Online

Building Equity Online I wrote this as a 5/18/2018 post on SteemIt. I dropped a comment on a post by @lesliestarrohara about the difficulty of persuading people of the Libertarian point of view. I hinted that there was a simple one word key that could win many arguments. The key is "ownership.". To start one can point out that poverty is a state in which a person owns very little. The only way to pull people out of poverty is to create mechanisms that allow people to own things. While welfare might put food in mouths, it doesn't solve poverty. The only way to solve poverty is to create things that common people can build equity in and own. I need to emphasize that, by ownership, I mean genuine ownership where a person owns somethiSun, 20 May 2018 01:20:00 +0000http://CommunityColor.com/kewl.html?dt=2018-05-20Review: Should I create a Youtube Channel

Youtube v. Podcasters I've been considering branching into multimedia. I started by considering youtube as they have a huge install base. I am upset because Youtube raised the entry level for its partner program to a thousand subscriptions. I've been following youtube since its inception and have noticed that only a tiny fraction of people making locally focused videos get a thousand subscriptions. I created a video to ask the youtube community if I should create a channel? I created the audio with Audacity the video with Record My Desktop. The resolution is too low. You can comment on the the Youtube page. As I am upset with Youtube, I decided to create a podbean podcast. This way I can concentrate on the audio. Twitpic / CommunityColor: I believe in the Local First concept. The goal of the Community Color program is to promote local web development. To build traffic for the site, I've begun to engage in photo sharing with large networks such as Tumblr and Twitpic. Rather than giving away the whole picture, I've decided to run the pictures through a simple fish eye filter that converts the images into a circle. I think the circle filter looks cool. My photo sharing page looks like a bunch of balls bouncing around. My favorite cicular photo is the show shoveling picture. It looks like a snow globe. tumblr: I started playing with Tumblr.com. Tumblr is pioneering the concept of "reblogging" with a strong emphasis on photography and video. I began "reblogging" images from the Mountain West on the tumblr blogs. I will break things out by state. The blogs are: Utah Color (which focuses exclusively on Utah), Arizona Color (which focuses on the Grand Canyon State). I will post general pictures on Community Color. Most of the images are from other photographers with a small number of my own photos mixed in for show. The one big problem with Tumblr is that, with all the reblogging of photos, it becomes difficult to sort out the photographers from the rebloggers. A smart way to approach Tumblr is to create your own private gallery (or use Mon, 28 Jan 2013 01:20:00 +0000http://CommunityColor.com/kewl.html?dt=2013-01-28Site of the Week = Huge Floods

If you spend $25 at a small business you get a bonus on your AMEX card. Gimmicks aside, Small Business Saturday is a great idea. Traditionally, small business was the backbone of the American economy. With the recession and new health care laws, small business is in a world of hurt. As the small businesses in America systematically fail, they bring down the other small businesses that depended on them. The timing of Small Business Saturday is also great. Their campaign is to end corporate influence in presidential politics by having government funded races, eliminating foreclosures. Jill Stein believes that chronic disease is created by our political system. Chronic disease will be eliminated if we had universal care. Jill Stein simply wants to get rid of Wall Street, a total and complete elimination of "capitalism." We would have an infinite number of jobs and a green economy if we eliminated the financial system. If there was nothing but government, we would eliminate this thing where so people don't have resources. The Bitter Presidential Election: I've been involved in this health care debate for the last 30 years. I am dismayed that Republicans nominated a candidate whose health care plan is all but identical to Obama's. PPACA (ObamaCare) is a network of state run health exchanges regulated by the Federal Government. Romney's plan is a network of health exchanges run and regulated by the state, with the Federal government providing coordinating support. Both sides of the shrill debate are pushing the same policy. So, I thought I would research some of the third party candidates. The 2012 presidential election will be one of the most widely analyzed election votes in history.
