A MOBI page is a page optimized for mobile phones. Since the pages are displayed on tiny screens, they must be tightly summarized, and the pages need to emphasize the navigational structure of the site.
I like to include links from the MOBI page back to the primary content.
The result of this process is the creation of pages with a dynamic linking structure that are rich with keywords ... a SEO dream.
The best part of the process is that can be classified as whitehat SEO. The webmaster isn't just creating empty feeder pages, but is creating a product that is useful to people browsing on Lynx or smart phones.
NOTE, I actually decided to undertake this MOBI project after using Twitter on a smartphone. Going directly from Twitter to multi-column web page is frustrating.
The downside is that creating multiple versions of content is a hassle as I have to create two pages simultaneously which is, as Einstein pointed out, impossible.
