Conservatives for Patients' Rights
What frustrates me most about the health care debate is that the political system manages to corner the debate into the darker sections of the political cycle.
Few specifics about health care reform are put forward during election years. Instead, politicians try to cram major changes in health care through the system on off years.
Needless to say, the public balks as they learn what the politicians have in mind.
Approaching the issue of health care from its fundamentals, one realizes that health care is about the care of individual people. The best way to provide care to individual people is to empower individual people. Historically, the system of limited government outlined in the US Constition has proven itself at the best way to empower the individual.
Unfortunately, the progressives of a previous generation convinced Americans that pools based on one's employer is the best way to fund health care. The system of employer based insurance that the progressives of yesteryear advocated have proven to be a hinderance to quality care.
The progressives of today point to the failure of the progressives of the past and demand that we turn health care over, lock-stock-and-barrel to the state.
Conservatives for Patients' Rights is a group balking at the current round of health care debate. Their site compares different health care plans and is trying to promote reforms that center on patient rights.
The site included the YouTube video below which speaks about deficiencies in the single payer plans. I really wish the Republicans had made free market reform of health care a fundamental part of their platform. Of course, if they chose this route, then Ron Paul would be president, and neither the blue blood Republicans, nor the progressive Democrats would have liked that result.
